The Road 2 Shambala: Exit 9-These Spirit Voices was recorded and edited November 15-19th (well, most of it, anyway) at Stuck Between Studios in Brooklyn, NY. The loyal Alesis mixer developed a nasty over-heating and hissing problem (like unto a rage-prone SNAKEBITCH), and has been replaced with a Mackie 1402-VLZ3, which we are still getting the hang of.
Our music this week is provided by the supercool Kelsey Jillette Group, whose warm, luscious tone belies some pretty adventurous takes on such classic tunes as Black Orpheus and Hot House, among others. We used tracks from their excellent record The Water Is Wide, but there’s much more to discover at their website. Thanks Kelsey!
Rose Surnow and Guerrin Gardner are, as you will hear, the most hilarious, engaging writers/actors/comediennes you could hope to meet, and you should watch Rose’s most recent video above (and check out her other ones also), and check out Too Muchery Productions to find out more about Guerrin and Mat Sanders’s amazing play, Sandy the Dandy and Charlie McGee.
Thanks to Ben Camp for once again sharing unfortunate incidents in his life with his trademark wit and charm, and to all of you who called our voicemail box at 909-SHA-ZAPS. As always, we welcome your feedback and input there and also via email at shambalaradio[at]gmail[dot]com.
The Lu has done it again on this week’s Search 4 Delicious, as has Boswell, and thanks again to the original Panel of Distinguished Experts, who appear again this week in Part 2 of last week’s expose on tattoos, bear sex, and other delightful Vital Topics.
Thank you so much for tuning in! Production on the next episode begins right…NOW!
Extra-special thanks to my favorite band in the WHOLE WORLD, Virginia Coalition, for letting me use their songs “Lonely Cowboy” and “End of the Road” as intro/outro music. Swoon!
