The Road 2 Shambala: Exit 12-Survive 2 Thrive was recorded and edited January 6-7th, 2010 at Stuck Between Studios in Brooklyn, NY. It represents our first foray into editing the show with Pro Tools, which the Lu is still teaching me how to use, but sweet Jebus it is awesome. Pro Tools, I mean–not my ability to edit with it. That’s still a long way from awesome, but it blows Garageband out of the deep blue sea, let me tell you. No beef, GB–you got us through eleven exits and two rest areas with something approaching aplomb, but you will now be regarded with a shunfull (shunning? shunsome?) eye, as the glorious Pro Tools sunbeams radiate across the land.
Matt Singer’s tunefully hilarious music can be further experienced at his Web site as well as his MySpace, and you can see him live at Union Hall in Brooklyn on January 29th with Chris Cubeta and the Liars Club (whose music we featured back at Exit 11). Plus, he’s got a new online-only album coming out in March that will be available on a pay-what-you-will basis, a la In Rainbows, so let’s all help the man out and pay as much as we’re able when the new hotness arrives.
Thanks to the Lu and Roald Dahl (RIP) for this week’s Search 4 Delicious, and to our resolve-ridden Panel of Distinguished Experts for the New Years Edition of Vital Topics–Alan Smith, Meika Hashimoto, Gerrit Hall, and Miz Abby Lee, and I’m sure you’ll all join me in breathing a collective sigh of relief that Boswell decided to bring back his notes this week, rather then attempting to give his closing remarks from his rapidly disintegrating memory.
Do let me know your thoughts on the show via email at shambalaradio[at]gmail.com, or voicemail at 909-SHA-ZAPS, and I hope you are as excited as I am for Exit 13, which begins production right…NOW.
Thanks for listening!
